GTS was selected by the City of Thousand Oaks to conduct a comprehensive Traffic Signal Warrant Analysis to evaluate the need for new or modified traffic control at key intersections throughout the city. The study focused on improving safety and traffic operations in accordance with the California Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (CA MUTCD).
GTS performed detailed field reviews and data collection, including vehicle and pedestrian counts, collision history analysis, and an assessment of surrounding land uses and school zones. The team evaluated multiple signal warrants, such as vehicular volume, pedestrian activity, and crash experience, and applied professional engineering judgment to develop recommendations.
The final report provided the City with clear, data-driven guidance on where signal installations or alternative safety improvements were warranted and established a defensible framework for prioritizing projects and pursuing Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP) funding.
