Baha Downtown is envisioned as a vibrant destination shaped by the region’s mountainous terrain, natural beauty, and growing role within the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 program. The development seeks to create a distinctive residential and touristic hub that reflects the character of its landscape, linking surrounding wadis, peaks, and existing communities through a network of outdoor spaces and walkable urban environments. With its aim to become a central gathering place for Al Baha province, the project focuses on creating a balanced, self-sufficient district where residents and visitors can live, work, and explore. GTS contributed to this vision by supporting early Smart City planning efforts that help establish the structural and organizational foundation needed for future growth.
The Smart City framework in Baha was shaped around an infrastructure system capable of functioning efficiently within steep terrain and a highly varied landscape. A robust fiber backbone forms the central connective layer of this system, designed for long-term flexibility and future expansion. The network incorporates regularly spaced splice vaults, multiple redundancy measures, and routing strategies that align with the site’s slopes, grading requirements, and accessibility considerations. GTS complemented this backbone design with wireless coverage plans, the layout of a centralized operations center, and a detailed Smart City plan illustrating where infrastructure and equipment should be positioned throughout the district. To support seamless coordination of all services, GTS also defined a unified operational platform that brings together the Smart City elements, including sensing technologies, signage, mobility support tools, and essential utility functions, into a single integrated environment.
