Los Osos Valley Road in San Luis Obispo County is the central spine of the Los Osos community and has been the subject of multiple planning efforts over the years. To reconcile and combine the recommendations of the existing plans and to create a corridor that better accommodates all travel modes, GTS created a Corridor Concept Plan. The plan began with a complete review and synthesis of the prior plans, identifying conflicts, overlaps, and opportunities for further development of ideas that were supported by the community.

 

GTS also led a robust public involvement effort for this project, which included onsite events, focused committee meetings, and a website featuring an interactive map and survey. Informed by this stakeholder input, GTS created a design for the corridor that will close gaps in the sidewalk and bike lane network, improve the quality of pedestrian and bicycle facilities, improve safety, and increase the efficiency of traffic flow along the corridor as a whole.

 

Our intent is for this Corridor Concept Plan to be fully feasible and implementable for the community. Project prioritization and funding sources were included in the plan, as well as identification of opportunities to include planned items in existing capital projects such as resurfacing.
